What is the Tea app?
The Tea app is a women-only app where women share posts about men they have dated. It is made by Tea Dating Advice, Inc. The name comes from the slang "spill the tea."
A Tea post about a man usually includes:
- a photo of him
- his first name and age
- the city or area
- a short story or a question for other women
Other women reply in the comments. They can also mark the man with a red flag or a green flag.
What is on the Tea app website?
The Tea app website, teaforwomen.com, describes the app and lets women sign up or sign in. Members can use Tea in a web browser as well as in the phone app. Both use the same women-only account.
So the website is not a back door. It has:
- no public search page
- no list of names
- no way to read posts without an approved account
Can men see anything on Tea?
No. A man cannot read Tea posts on the website or in the app, and they don't normally turn up on Google. Here is where a man might look, and what he will find.
Tea's website
You will find information about the app. You will not find posts.
The Tea app
You cannot get in. Press reports say Tea checks a selfie or an ID at sign-up, which is meant to keep men out.
Google search
Tea posts are meant for signed-in members, so you generally won't find them by searching Google.
TikTok, Reddit and group chats
Sometimes a screenshot of a Tea post gets shared. You can't count on your post being one of them.
A Tea app checker
A checker looks at Tea from the outside. Tea App Checker shows possible matches from the Tea posts we can see.
Why is there no Tea app for men?
There is no Tea app for men because Tea was built as a women-only space. Press reports say a selfie or ID check at sign-up is how Tea keeps it that way. Some other apps let men post about women, but those are separate apps with their own rules. Tea App Checker checks Tea only.
How do I spot a bad Tea app checker?
A bad Tea app checker usually asks for a login or for money before it shows you anything. Many men want to look, so lots of sites offer a check. Watch for these signs:
- It asks for your Tea login, or someone else's. Never hand over account details.
- It wants money before it shows anything. You might pay for an empty result.
- The price only appears at the last step. You should see the cost before you enter a card.
- It has no privacy policy or terms. A real service tells you what it does with your data.
Tea App Checker is independent. It is not made by Tea and is not affiliated with Tea. It shows you if there is a possible match before you pay anything. Read our privacy policy and refund policy before you decide.
Is there a way for men to check Tea from the outside?
Yes. A check here needs only a first name, city and age, or a photo, and most checks take about 10 seconds. The step-by-step guide is Am I on the Tea app? How to check for free.
An unlocked post can also show the Tea account behind it. How Tea App Checker works explains what that includes. Your photo is only used if you add one. The Biometric Notice explains how photos are handled.

What does a clean result mean?
A clean result means no possible match turned up in the Tea posts we searched today. It isn't proof you were never posted. New posts go up all the time, so you can check again later. To learn the limits of a check, read How Tea App Checker Works (and What It Can't Do).
