How to see if you're on the Tea app

Tea is an app where women post about men they have dated. Men can't open it to look. A tea checker like this one lets you look from the outside. Here is what happens when you search. Our guides go into more detail.

1. Tell us who to look for

Type your first name, the city you live or date in, and your age. Use your first name only, since full names tend to miss. You can also add a clear photo of your face. The photo is optional, but it helps when a post uses a nickname or no name at all.

2. We compare it with Tea posts

Your details are checked against the Tea posts we can see. A name search looks for posts that fit your first name, city and age. A photo search uses our own face match to look for posts that show a similar face.

3. See your results for free

Most checks take about 10 seconds. If something turns up, you see each possible match with its photo, first name, age, city and date. You also see how many comments and flags it has. Seeing this costs nothing.

4. Unlock only the posts you want to read

Each post has its own unlock button. Pay once to read that post, its comments, who flagged it and who posted it. The price is shown on the button before you pay. There is no plan and no repeat charge. If you don't unlock, you don't pay.

One more thing. A name match is a possible match, not proof that a post is about you. Lots of people share a first name. Look at the city, age and photo before you decide.

What a match shows you, free and unlocked

Every result is a possible match. You decide if it is really about you.

Free, before you pay

  • Each possible match we found
  • The photo from the post, not blurred
  • The first name, age and city on the post
  • The date it was posted
  • How many comments it has
  • How many red flags and green flags it has

After you unlock a post

  • What the post says
  • The comments we have for it
  • Who flagged it
  • Who posted it: the Tea account behind the post. You see the name it shows on Tea (usually a first name or a handle, not a full legal name), where and when it posts, and the other posts we can see from it
  • It stays open for 7 days in this browser, with free updates in that time

When nothing turns up

A clean result means we found no match in the Tea posts we can see today. It isn't proof that you were never posted. New posts go up all the time, so it can be worth checking again later. There is nothing to unlock when there is no match.

You can also leave your email for free. We save it with your search. New-post alerts are not ready yet. When they are, we will email you once to ask if you want them.

Why men can't look themselves up on Tea

Tea is built for women

Tea is a dating safety app for women. Press reports say it checks a selfie or ID when someone signs up. So a man can't make an account and scroll for his own name. Asking a woman friend to look for you is awkward, and it puts her in the middle.

Is there a Tea app for men?

No. There is no men's version of Tea. Some other apps let men post about women, but this site only checks Tea. It isn't made by Tea, and it isn't linked to it.

What you can do instead

Check from the outside. A search here needs only a first name, city and age, or a photo. You don't need a Tea account, and nobody has to lend you theirs. If you date in more than one city, run a check for each one.

Free to search. Pay once for each post you want to read.

Searching is free. So is seeing each match's photo, first name, age, city and date, and how many comments and flags it has.

To read a post, you unlock that one post. It is a one-time payment. There is no plan, no account and no repeat charge. The price is shown on the button before you pay, so you know the cost before you enter a card.

You can pay with Apple Pay, Google Pay or a card. Payments go through Stripe. Charges appear as TEA APP GREEN FLAGS on your card statement. That way the charge won't look strange when you see it later.

A post you unlock stays open for 7 days in this browser, with free updates to it in that time. Nothing renews by itself. After 7 days, or if you clear your cookies or use another device, you pay again to open it.

You get the post right away, so a payment is not refunded once the post is opened. Billing mistakes, like a double charge, are always fixed. Read our refund rules and our terms before you buy.

Your search stays private

Nobody on Tea is told

When you search, nothing is posted anywhere and no one on Tea gets a notice. The person who wrote a post won't know you looked.

No account needed

You don't sign up to search. If you choose to unlock a post, checkout asks for your email and your payment details, and nothing more.

Payments go through Stripe

Apple Pay, Google Pay and card payments are handled by Stripe. Your card details go into Stripe's secure form. We never see your full card number.

What happens to your photo

A photo is only used if you choose to add one, and you are asked to agree first. Only add a photo of yourself, or of someone you are legally allowed to act for. It is used to compare faces for your search. If you use your camera, it only turns on after you tap to use it and your browser asks you to allow it.

Photos are kept in encrypted storage; face data is destroyed within 3 years or sooner once it is no longer needed.

The full details are in our Biometric Notice and Privacy Policy. You can also ask us to delete your data.

Is a Tea app checker legit? Four things to check

Some checker sites are fine. Some take your money before they show you anything. Before you pay any site, look for these four things.

  1. You can see if there's a match before you pay. If a site wants money just to look, you may pay for nothing.
  2. The price is shown before you enter a card. No surprises at the end.
  3. There is a real privacy policy and real terms. You should be able to read them before you buy.
  4. You know the name on your card statement. A charge you don't recognize is stressful.

This site does all four. Here is how a free search compares with a pay-first lookup.

Tea App Checker questions and answers

How do I know if I'm on the Tea app?

Men can't search Tea, so the simplest way is to check from the outside. Enter your first name, city and age here, or add a photo. You'll see if there are possible matches before you pay anything.

Can men see posts on the Tea app?

No. Tea is made for women, and press reports say it checks a selfie or ID when someone signs up. A man can't open the app and look up his own name.

Is there a Tea app for men?

There is no men's version of Tea. Some other apps let men post about women, but this site checks Tea only, and it isn't part of Tea.

Is this Tea app checker free?

Searching is free. You also see each match's photo, first name, age, city and date, and how many comments and flags it has. To read a post, you pay once for that one post. The price is shown on the button before you pay.

Can I find out who posted me?

When you unlock a post, you see the Tea account behind it: the name it shows on Tea (usually a first name or a handle, not a full legal name), where and when it posts, and the other posts we can see from it. We show only what we can see, so this isn't guaranteed for each post.

How long does a check take?

Most checks take about 10 seconds. At busy times it can take a little longer.

Can I search the Tea app by name instead of a photo?

Yes. Enter a first name, age and city. Adding a photo can help, because many people share a first name and some posts don't use one.

Will the person who posted about me know I searched?

No. Your search isn't posted anywhere, and nobody on Tea gets a notice that you looked.

Is a Tea app checker legit?

Some are and some aren't. A good one shows you if there's a match before you pay, shows the price before checkout, and has a real privacy policy. This one does all three.

Does it search everything on Tea?

No. It searches the Tea posts we can see. No checker can honestly promise it covers everything ever written on Tea.

What if nothing comes up?

It means no match was found in the posts we searched today. It isn't proof you were never posted. New posts go up all the time, so you can check again later.

If I clear my cookies, do I have to pay again?

A post you unlock stays open for 7 days in this browser, with free updates to it in that time. Nothing renews by itself. After 7 days, or if you clear your cookies or use another device, you pay again to open it.

Is there anything to cancel?

No. Each unlock is a one-time payment for one post. There is no plan and no repeat charge, so there is nothing to cancel. If you saved your email for new-post alerts and want it removed, use the Delete my data page.
